C-60 background:
Since the partition of Gadchiroli district, there has been an increase in Naxal activities. Therefore, in order to ban Naxal activities, on 01/12/1990, C-60 was established by Shri. K.P.Raghuvanshi (Superintendent of Police, Gadchiroli). At that time, only 60 capable and special commandos were deployed in the C-60.PI Gujar was the first officer in charge of C-60.
Gadchiroli district was divided into two divisions (North Division and South Division) to curb the rise of Naxal activities in Gadchiroli district..
Every C-60 jawan is working tirelessly to curb the Naxal movement in his Gadchiroli district. The C-60 squad is known as the Naxalite Kardankal. The C-60 Squadron was formerly known as Crack Commando.
C-60 Squad Action:
The trained C-60 personnel work hard and go to the corners of Gadchiroli district and carry out anti-Naxal operations in hilly and remote areas. Meanwhile, the Naxals visit the families and relatives of those involved in the movement, guide them to various government facilities and schemes for surrender, change their minds to take advantage of them and motivate them to participate in the development of democracy. However, the extremist Naxals who oppose the government plan and democracy and incite the people against the government are eliminated by searching for them. He has also provided invaluable assistance in curbing the Naxal movement and in carrying out public relations in remote areas, presenting various policies of the government to the people and guiding them..
Communication with the people and their problems:
Due to the terror of Naxals, no government official / staff goes to remote and forested areas, where C-60 squads go and communicate with the people and find out their problems (such as electricity, roads, lakes, borewells, health, schools, bus services) and at the headquarters. When you arrive, tell the senior officer that the work will be completed by the concerned office.
Sports and Exercise:
Physical exercises, drills and team games are held every morning to keep the C-60 squads in reserve at the headquarters. They are also informed about Naxal tactics from time to time to carry out anti-Naxal campaigns. They are also shown motivational lectures and commando movies to boost their morale.
